Catching Up

Hello all,
Sorry I've not updated in ages! I've had a few technical hitches, at first I couldn't get internet, and then my laptop broke!
I've been here a month today, and I'm having a great time, learning lots. God's showing me so much, and I've had chance to put a lot of the youth and community stuff into practice at festivals.
Fusion, throw community festivals, where they have big centre games for children like waterballoon volley ball, and the limbo and stuff like that, and then around the outside there's various different activities, like face painting, biscuit decorating, wind tunnels and balloon modelling. It's a great way to bring communites together and get everyone involved. Gives people chance to meet new people from their area and feel valued. I've been involved with 3 of these so far around my training.
In the training I'm learning youth work skills, how to reach groups of young people, schools work youth cafes etc. There's Bible bits, a bit og theolog, study of the gospels, acts etc and then revolutionary values such as encouragement and the word of life. As well as all this we're learning how relationships work and how humans make decisions and how to help and see things that we have from our past which affect how we see the world and act with other people.
I'm currently planning to halp at a youth camp here which starts 4 days after my training finishes, and I'll help there for a week with teenagers before making my way back to (hopefully) sunny England. I haven't boked my flight back yet however, so this could depend on when I'm able to fly.
Thanks for all your support, I'll try and keep you better informed over the next 3/4 weeks.
God Bless!

Helloooo!!

I have internet on my laptop now!! Yeyy!! Hopefully I can update more now! Don't worry, I've learnt my lesson... English is spelt without a c in English, and yellow and orange equals bad couolrs for blogging!

I can't remember where I got up to last time, so I'll just overview my past few days! :)

So up until Tuesday I was just cleaning. Helping get all the huts and rooms and stuff read for when people arrive. They started to arrive on Tuesday, and so now there's plenty more people around, and they've started training for whatever they need to train for. I think they're learning how to teach the units of the course we're starting on Sunday.... Foundations.... yeyy... the excitement! :D

So now I'm not really doing very much to be honest. I have been helping cook in the mornings so far this week, but I'm not needed in the afternoons and evenings so I'm just hanging around reading and stuff. I went shopping to Poland yesterday, that was fun! :) We're rather far east, and stuff is cheaper over there, so we just pop over the border to buy some of the food and stuff. The fun bit is understnading the packets.

I guess that's all I have to say for today! I'm really excited about starting Foundations on Sunday whooop! But until something exciting happens.... Tschüss!

Hallloooo!!
Ok so the internet is not as accessible as I'd thought, but all the same.... I'm here! :D
I'm having a great time.
Tuesday - travelling... the journey was good, apart from maybe a bit boring, but that was expected really. I didn't really do much else.
Wednesday - Started work. Basically, Derfflinger Hof, where I am, is a site with lots of little huts! There's like a big kitchen and dining room one, and little library and a laundrette. Then there's lots of other huts with about 8 beds... 3 rooms and a bathroom. A few of them are in good condition, but we're cleaning up and making the others fit to live in, for when more people come, to do Foundations. So Yesterday we cleaned one of those out.
Thursday... today!! Today we cleaned all the windows in the dining room... 11 in total... the windows are a bit strange.. they're like double glazed, but the two panes have their own frames, which then screw together.... so really we've clened about 22 windows! But we did that a lot quicker than expected, so then we bottomed the rest of the dining room. This afternoon I've been helping to build a wardrobe, and table. The wardrobe was fun... they kept getting it wrong, and I didn't know how to explain in German how it was meant to fit together, but we got there in the end and it looks good... all that's missing is the clothes rail haha!!
There seems to be a sort of daily routine. We eat breakfast at 9, then 9:30 we have Bible study and prayers. Then 10 we start work. Then about 1-1:30 we eat, and then we nap!! Hahaha!! Although, so far I've just been reading or learning vocab in this time. Then back to work before tea. After tea free time. Last night we played a game... Phase 10, it was good fun! :)
I'm having a great time, I'm glad I can actually be of help. Noone here speaks Englisch, so I'm putting my German to good use. There's a lot of stuff I don't understand, but I get there in the end. My dictionary and bilingual bible are coming in handy!
Right, sorry this has been such a long post, I'll try and make it shorter next time.
Thanks for reading, especially if you made it this far!
